Newark First UMC
Handy Man Ministry has completed over three years of ministry. It was started by our Men’s Group to help members of our congregation with “simple” household tasks. We meet the second Saturday of each month. During these past years, we have repaired screens and mail boxes, raked leaves, cleaned gutters, washed windows, done spring and fall cleanup, painted steps, installed birdhouses and more. We have worked at the church, the House of John in Phelps and held a food drive to benefit the T.I.C. Food Closet. Every year we help to feed over 60 Week of Hope kids a lasagna dinner.
For our first year the Handy Man Numbers:
231 – Total hours worked.
18 – Number of our congregation members helped.
16 – Total number of men who have participated.
7 to 8 – Average number of men who show up to work.
Unrecordable – The satisfaction we get!
We are loosely organized and proof that when you put a bunch of 'can do' men together good things happen. We are good at what we do. We love what we do.
To the Men who have not been involved - we would love to have you join us. We meet the second Saturday of each month:
8:00 – 9:00 –Coffee and donuts, scripture, prayer
9:00 – 11:00 Work. You are done at 11:00.
To everyone else - we would love to help you. Call the office.
